Former Inter striker Christian Vieri believes that Alexis Sanchez should be the current starter in attack for Inter even though he is still a fan of Lautaro Martinez.
Speaking on his Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Vieri defender Martinez from criticisms that he is in poor form, but also emphasized that Sanchez’s current performances make him the better option in attack.
Martinez has not been in good scoring form, and this has led some to suggest that he is not playing at his best, though Vieri feels that based on his performances this is not the case.
Meanwhile, Sanchez has scored a number of vital goals for the Nerazzurri, either as a starter or from the bench, and this has led to calls for him to become the main starter in attack for the time being.
Vieri feels that there is legitimate reason for the Chilean to be considered for the regular starting spot, even though he doesn’t feel that this is anything to discredit Martinez.
“For me, the Argentine must score more goals,” he said of Martinez, “I think at least 22-23 a year because he has the quality to do so.”
“Toro can score goals even if it’s in the last fifteen minutes of matches,” he added, “it’s not true that he’s in bad form. Today, however, I would have the Chilean be the starter.”
