Inter forward Alexis Sanchez looks to be the favourite to start in attack in tomorrow’s Champions League round of sixteen clash with Liverpool.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Chilean is ahead of Lautaro Martinez in the thinking of Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi.
Edin Dzeko is all but certain to start against the Reds, and the main question for the coach is whether to start Martinez or Sanchez alongside him, and the coach looks set to make his decision based on recent form.
Martinez has not found the back of the net recently in spite of his usual workrate, whilst Sanchez has popped up with several important goals to cap off good performances, and so Inzaghi looks likely to turn to the Chilean.
Meanwhile, Sanchez’s experience in the Champions League could also be a factor, with the 33-year-old having already made 62 appearances in Europe’s top competition.
