Lautaro Martinez looks set to start in attack for Inter in this evening’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg against Liverpool.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 24-year-old will see off the competition of Alexis Sanchez and take his place alongside Edin Dzeko in attack.
Martinez’s lack of goals in recent weeks along with the form of Sanchez who has popped up with a number of crucial goals for the team has led to reports that the Argentine could be dropped to the bench in favour of the Chilean.
Which of the pair to start alongside Edin Dzeko is the biggest selection dilemma for Simone Inzaghi, but he still appears to favour starting Martinez over starting Sanchez.
Meanwhile, Arturo Vidal is set to start in place of the suspended Nicolo Barella, and with Matias Vecino out injured the only senior midfielder on the bench will be Roberto Gagliardini.
