Stefan de Vrij looks set to start for Inter in this evening’s Champions League clash with Liverpool, seeing off the competition of Danilo D’Ambrosio in defense.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Dutchman will still be selected at the heart of the defense as Simone Inzaghi prioritizes consistency at the back.
De Vrij’s poor form in recent weeks has led to the possibility that Inzaghi could decide to go with D’Ambrosio in defense rather then the Dutchman.
However, the 30-year-old has been the regular starter all season when fit, and the coach will not be keen to disrupt his back three too much for the massive match.
Accordingly, Tuttosport predict that it will still be de Vrij who will take his usual place in the centre of the backline, while they also expect Lautaro Martinez to start in attack ahead of Alexis Sanchez.
