Former Italian football manager Fabio Capello has said that the substitutions that Inter boss Simone Inzaghi made last night had a negative effect on the game, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media last night.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport last night, via FCInternews, the former England National Team manager explained that cannot be seen as a coincidence that as in the derby, Simone Inzaghi’s changes did not help Inter.

“The changes had a negative effect this time too. And it cannot be a coincidence that, as in the derby, when Inzaghi makes the substitutions, Inter loses the game.”

The game was 0-0 until the 75th minute but the only change that Simone Inzaghi had made was to introduce Alexis Sanchez for Lautaro Martinez. Jurgen Klopp meanwhile had introduced Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, and Jordan Henderson.

Speaking more widely about the game, Fabio Capello pointed out that neither goalkeeper made any real saves during the match. Samir Handanovic was beaten by the only two shots that he faced.

“Handanovic didn’t make a save, two shots and two goals. Both goalkeepers didn’t make a save this evening.”

The goals for Liverpool were scored by Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
