There was a clear similarity between the home group stage defeat to Real Madrid and last night’s defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been pointed out by Tuttosport, Inter followed a familiar pattern of being very creative and seemingly having control over the game, only to concede late on and lose the contest.

Inter’s first group stage match of this season’s Champions League was at home against Real Madrid and the Nerazzurri were the dominant team and missed a number of very clear cut chances.

They then lost 1-0 thanks to an 89th minute winner from Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes. Inter did not create as many clear cut chances against Liverpool as they did against Real Madrid.

Despite that, they were still wasteful in front of goal and then paid the price in the 75th minute when Roberto Firmino headed in.
