Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has said that Inter are an excellent team who are very well organised, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking after the Champions League match between Inter and Liverpool on Wednesday night, via FCInternews, the Dutch defender showed that he was clearly impressed with the Nerazzurri despite Liverpool winning the game 2-0.

“After all, the coach’s message before the match was clear, we had to be ready to suffer. And he was right because we knew how to do it. It was very hard but in the end, I think, we deserved it.

“They are not only an excellent team, with excellent individualities, but also very well organized. They put us in difficulty. In the end we scored thanks to an inactive ball, but after all these situations are a strength for us and we work hard on them.”

Inter played very well for the majority of the game and during the early section of the first half they looked much more likely to find a goal than Liverpool were.

Virgil Van Dijk said that he was relieved when Liverpool took the lead in the 75th minute through Roberto Firmino’s header.

“It’s normal, I think, goals change games. Then, when you suffer like this, maybe you get a little depressed. While, vice versa, those who like us have been under pressure, feel relieved. It was difficult, very difficult.”

Roberto Firmino’s headed goal came from a corner that will anger Inter’s coaches. The second goal came in the 82nd minute when Mohamed Salah’s shot in the box was deflected through a group of bodies and into the back of the Inter net.
