Former Inter forward Sandro Mazzola has said that Inter played well against Liverpool on Wednesday night and deserved to score in the second half, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with TMW, Sandro Mazzola explained that he liked the way that Inter played and that they were just missing the final touch when it mattered.

“The fact remains that they played well, in the second half the Nerazzurri deserved the goal. There were several very good moments, they missed that little bit extra in the last touch.”

Much has been made of the lack of a clear partnership between Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez after the display last night and Sandro Mazzola thinks this is something that Simone Inzaghi must work on straight away.

“It is strange that it has not yet taken off because for me they both have good characteristics to go together. The coach must work on it.”

Hakan Calhanoglu played very well for Inter against Liverpool and Sandro Mazzola feels that he is a match winner.

“He is a nice player, he also hit the crossbar, he was unlucky. He is the one who can win the game with goals or with his play.”

Turning the attention back to the Serie A title race, Sandro Mazzola feels that Inter do not have to rush in their games as they have no equals in the title race.

“You don’t have to be in a hurry. You need to be calm and then fight, fight. And then you can see how it ends. Inter have no opponents, they are strong.”
