Inter are optimistic that Alessandro Bastoni’s two-match suspension will be shorted to one match today as the appeal verdict is revealed, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Alessandro Bastoni and Inter will learn today if the player is allowed to feature against Sassuolo on Sunday or if he will still be suspended.

He was given the two-match suspension at the end of the Derby della Madonnina for a confrontation with the officials.

Inter feel that the ban was excessive given the nature of what he said to the referee. He has already served one match after he was absent against Napoli.

If Inter lawyer Angelo Capellini is successful in his aims, the second match ban will be turned into a fine instead. Simone Inzaghi will want as many key players available as possible to face a dangerous Sassuolo side.
