Inter need better players on the bench to avoid conceding late goals and running out of steam in big matches, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been discussed today by Tuttosport, the defeat in the Champions League to Liverpoolexhibited how Inter’s bench cannot compete with the biggest in Europe.

Jurgen Klopp brought on Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, and Jordan Henderson whereas Simone Inzaghi only brought on Alexis Sanchez. Inter then conceded two goals in the final 15 minutes.

It is relevant that Nicolo Barella, Robin Gosens, Joaquin Correa and Matias Vecino were all out, but it is a theme of the season that Simone Inzaghi does not make his second change until very late in the second half.

In the final part of the match, Inter have conceded ten times this season. They were very impressive against Liverpool for 70 minutes but the final 20 minutes killed the tie.
