Inter-owned full-back Dalbert still feels a connection with the Nerazzurri despite being out of favour at the club and currently out on loan with Cagliari.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Brazilian highlighted the importance of former Inter coach Luciano Spalletti to his development as a player, and also expressed the hope that his parent club could win the Scudetto.

Dalbert is currently on loan with the Rossoblu where he has become an important player in their battle against relegation.

The 28-year-old had fallen out of favour at the Nerazzurri especially after the arrival of Antonio Conte, when he went to Fiorentina on loan, but he had been a regular starter under Spalletti.

The full-back feels that working under the current Napoli boss helped him improve his game significantly.

“I always got along well with him,” he said of the former Nerazzurri coach, “and he helped me a lot and brought me to Inter.”

On the comparison between Spalletti and another former Inter coach, current Rossoblu boss Walter Mazzarri, Dalbert stated that “They have being two excellent coaches in common, but otherwise they are profoundly different.”

“Mazzarri is closer to the players,” he explained, “he always talks to them, he has an almost fatherly approach.”

“He wants to know how you are and how you’re doing even off the pitch,” he elaborated. “Spalletti doesn’t talk much, but restricts his focus to a getting the key things right on the pitch.”

On whether he thinks his parent club Inter will win the Scudetto, Dalbert said that “I hope so, because I still have many friends at the Nerazzurri. If they win, I’m happy for them.”

And asked whether he would feel that the Scudetto was partly his as an Inter player, the Brazilian replied “No because I’m not at the club. I did the preseason with them but then I chose Cagliari.”
