Inter’s renewal of the contracts of key directors yesterday is an indication that the club want to proceed with a financially sustainable long-term project under the direction of the trio.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the Nerazzurri are aiming to continue on with a focus on young players under Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, and Dario Baccin.

Marotta, Ausilio, and Baccin have already overseen the past few years of Inter’s development, including the Scudetto win under Antonio Conte and then what looks to have been a successful transition under Simone Inzaghi despite major financial restrictions and squad upheaval.

The club have repaid the trio’s work by extending their deals until the end of 2025, and according to the Gazzetta are putting their faith in the directors to build a project that is sustainable and self-financing.

The club imposed a goal of slashing the wage bill by 15% over the summer, a goal which Marotta, Ausilio, and Baccin’s work has been important in moving towards.

Meanwhile, even though the Nerazzurri are always mindful of market opportunities including a potential move for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala on a free transfer, their focus is on the long term.

The trio of sporting directors are looking to steer the club in a direction of signing younger players with room to grow, and especially Italian players, with Sassuolo duo Gianluca Scamacca and Davide Frattesi among their key targets.

The decision to commit to the future with Marotta, Ausilio, and Baccin has shown that the Nerazzurri have faith in this vision for the long term of the project, and see it as the right way towards financial sustainability.
