Former Inter midfielder Hernanes feels that the Nerazzurri have lost a bit of their winning edge after taking the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana, and must get back to their ruthless best.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the Brazilian suggested that it’s natural for complacency to set in after major triumphs, but that the Nerazzurri can recover their edge.

Inter have enjoyed their most positive run in some time over the past few seasons, first under Antonio Conte and then under Simone Inzaghi this campaign.

Two seasons of growth under Conte culminated in the club’s first Scudetto win in eleven years last time around, while this season they have already won the Supercoppa Italiana in addition to being in a good position to defend the Scudetto.

For Hernanes, however, the key thing that this Inter side must do is work to maintain their desire to keep winning despite having already won key titles.

“It’s somewhat normal, even after the victory of the Scudetto last year and the victory in the Supercoppa against Juventus in January, to have lost a bit of their hunger,” he said.

“They’ve let up a little, let’s put it this way,” he added. “Now they have to start again and get the knife back between their teeth.”
