Former Torino and Bari defender Massimo Brambati feels that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez may not be playing his best due to the tactics of coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW radio, Brambati emphasized that rather than the Argentine being individually out of form he could simply be struggling with Inzaghi’s tactics which are not suited to him.

Inzaghi has reoriented the Nerazzurri to more of a possession-based team compared to last season, relying on quick passing combinations all over the pitch rather than quick dynamic and vertical moves as they had used under Antonio Conte.

At times, Martinez has struggled to find the moments in which to get shots away as his teammates have instead looked to carve opponents up.

The 24-year-old has experienced hot-and-cold form this season in front of goal, but Brambati believes that this could be as much down to the style of play as his individual form.

“Is it a decline in form or is it Inzaghi’s style of play?” he posed. “He has always scored the goals.”
