Inter forward Lautaro Martinez made a gesture of apology towards the fans in the Curva Nord at the San Siro after this evening’s Serie A loss to Sassuolo.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 24-year-old raised his hands as a way of apologizing for some of his costly recent misses, not least against the Neroverdi.

Martinez has not been in good form in front of goal since the start of the new year, and his lack of cutting edge has been one of the team’s major problems in their recent run of mediocre form at a bad time in the season.

The Argentine was not at fault for the Nerazzurri’s defensive capitulation early on against Sassuolo, but in the second half he was perhaps the most guilty player as the team missed a slew of presentable opportunities, including failing to score from virtually point blank range.

The striker did not want to hide from the fans, however, an acknowledged that he’s not been at his best in recent matches with his gesture.
