Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca looks to be inching closer and closer to a summer transfer to Inter, in a move that now appears all but destined to happen.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the clubs are working towards making the deal happen and that the player wants to join the Nerazzurri.
Scamacca showed all his quality to lead the line for an excellent Neroverdi side who handed Inter a devastating third Serie A defeat of the season to put their Scudetto push in real jeopardy.
The 23-year-old made life difficult for Stefan de Vrij all evening and gave his team an out-ball throughout the second half, after having scored their second goal in the first half.
The striker didn’t initially celebrate the goal, leading to some rumblings that this was because he expected to join Inter in the summer, though he clarified later that he believed that he had scored from an offside position.
In any event, however, Scamacca is undoubtedly a major target for the Nerazzurri, who are now some ways along in the process of trying to reach a deal for him with Sassuolo.
Inter are the favourites for his signature especially after Juventus bet on Dusan Vlahovic to strengthen their attack in January.
Relations are good between the Nerazzurri and the Neroverdi, and the two clubs’ CEOs Beppe Marotta and Giovanni Carnevali have been meeting regularly, with making the transfer of Scamacca happen appearing to be one of their main objectives.
