Former Inter defender Fabio Galante believes that Croatian duo Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic are the key players at the heart of the current Nerazzurri side.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Itasportpress.it, the 48-year-old emphasized the importance of renewing with the two Croats and also gave his thoughts on the dip in form by striker Lautaro Martinez.

Brozovic and Perisic had been important players for Inter last season, but this time around there form looks to have improved even further.

The pair are among the Nerazzurri’s standout players, and consistently put in key performances in their respective positions, and they’ve played a big role in the success so far.

Both Brozovic and Perisic see their current deals run out at the end of June, but Galante feels that their futures must be secured with new contracts because they are among the most important players to the team.

On whether the pair should be renewed, he said “Yes, because they represent the core of Inter. Not to mention, Perisic is having an incredible season.”

And on Martinez’s stuttering form in front of goal, he analyzed that “Perhaps he had a particular chemistry with Lukaku, which he is now struggling to rebuild with Dzeko.”
