Inter-owned Empoli striker Andrea Pinamonti still has ambitions of returning and making his mark in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Speaking to Florence-based newspaper Corriere Fiorentino in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 22-year-old named scoring in a Milan derby for the Nerazzurri as one of his ultimate career ambitions.

Pinamonti has had something of a breakout season on loan at newly-promoted Empoli this campaign, scoring nine goals so far in Serie A for the Tuscans.

The striker’s form in front of goal has led to transfer interest from a number of clubs as well as raised the possibility that he could have a future playing in attack for the Nerazzurri.

The 22-year-old would like that very much, and would be especially happy if he could make an impact in one of Italian football’s showpiece occasions, the Milan derby, playing for the Nerazzurri.

“Well, I think scoring in a derby is one of the greatest feelings a player can experience,” he said. “I hope that I can celebrate many more derby goals in the future.”

He added that “It’s definitely my best season from a scoring point of view, but I’m not going to stop. My goal is to score as much as possible and help the team reach safety in the league.”

The 22-year-old continued that “Ibrahimovic and Icardi have always been my idols, but in general I always try to learn from the greatest strikers. Being compared with Dzeko is an honour to me.”
