Stefan De Vrij Wants To Extend Inter Contract & Isn’t Currently Considering Leaving Club, Italian Media Report

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij is not currently thinking about leaving the Nerazzurri in the summer and prefers to extend his contract with the club.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that despite links away from the club the 30-year-old is not convinced by any offers for a move away from the club.
De Vrij’s current deal with Inter is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and with no agreement having yet been found on a renewal the club could decide to cash on him rather than let him go into the final year of his contract.
However, so far the main candidates to come forward for his signature have been Borussia Dortmund who approached in January, but who considered the total cost of transfer fee and wages to be too high and instead turned to Niklas Sule.
Meanwhile, Premier League club Newcastle United have put forward a proposal with a €25 million transfer fee which would see the Dutchman’s wages more than doubled to €7 million net per season.
However, de Vrij is not interested in joining the Tyneside club no matter the increase in wages as he is not convinced by their sporting project.
There is still time for a club to come forward for de Vrij, with the defender’s agent Mino Raiola looking at offers, and with Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona among the most interested clubs.
However, for the moment the Dutchman does not feel convinced by any of the possibilities for a move away and still wants to stay on at Inter and extend his contract.
