Edin Dzeko gave up a sizeable chink of his salary in order to make his move to Inter happen in the summer transfer window, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by grandhotelcalciomercato.com, one of transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio’s websites, the deal to bring Edin Dzeko to Inter was almost completed before the friendly against Dynamo Kyiv in August.

Inter had agreed to pay €1.5 million to AS Roma should they qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the 2021/22 season. The last step was still missing though which was to sanction the wage that the Bosnian would be paid.

He agreed to give up half of his salary for July and the first 10 days of August which corresponds to about €1 million gross. That meant he could join Inter straight away and be in place for the first game against Genoa in which he scored.
