Former Juventus and Atalanta striker Nicola Amoruso has said that Inter are the favourites to win the Serie A title this season because of their quality players, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, Nicola Amoruso explained that the talent and quality in Inter’s side puts them ahead in the title race.
He also has praise for the squads that AC Milan and Napoli have but still thinks that the Nerazzurri will have what it takes to defend the title they won under Antonio Conte last season.
“I see Inter ahead in the title race because they are the team that plays best of all, they have talent and quality. Then there is Milan, which could be the real surprise thanks to the incredible work of Pioli, Maldini and Massara.
“But I see them as further behind. The team that has the maturity to compete for the championship with Inter are Napoli, a team that I like because they have been built year after year and grown.”
Inter forward Lautaro Martinez is in a very poor run of form and has come under a lot of criticism from fans and pundits.
Nicola Amoruso believes that it is normal for strikers to go through these patches and it is often followed with a spell where they score even more than they would ever expect.
“There are those moments of struggle when for the attackers the goal becomes really small. I wouldn’t worry too much, the player fights. There will also come a period in which every shot will go in. It’s not a compatibility problem with Dzeko as much as personal. On the pitch we see that he is a bit nervous but it’s normal.”
