Inter are highly unlikely to make an effort to bring Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku back to the club despite his desires to return, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by FCInter1908, it is simply not on the cards for Inter to completely alter the current direction of the club just so that Romelu Lukaku can return.

After he left Inter for Chelsea, Inter continued to cut the costs of the team whilst also investing in younger players to maintain the competitiveness of the team with a smaller wage bill.

Re-signing Romelu Lukaku would require an almost complete move away from that philosophy. Inter are not struggling enough on the pitch to warrant a total shift towards Romelu Lukaku.

The Nerazzurri remain committed to signing young players such as Sassuolo dup Gianluca Scamacca and Davide Frattesi in the summer so they can build towards the future.
