Despite being linked with a sensational move for their former striker Romelu Lukaku, Inter remain focused on swooping for Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A champions are in the hunt for a new forward and have been paired with Lukaku, after a disastrous debut season at Chelsea.

However, Inter are keeping close tabs on Scamacca and he is ahead of Lukaku in their list of targets after blossoming this season to net 10 goals for Sassuolo and showing technique and aerial ability during a positive campaign.

It is also suggested that working under coach Simone Inzaghi and alongside fellow striker Edin Dzeko can iron out the inconsistencies in Scamacca’s game, whilst he would be more suited to Inzaghi’s approach, with the midfielders looking to find the strikers in pockets of space in and around the box.

Any move for Lukaku would likely be a dry loan with no options or obligations to purchase, whilst Scamacca would be a longer-term investment.
