After a rocky spell form in recent weeks, as many as six Inter players have come under scrutiny for their performances, including captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, Inter’s sole victory in the past five matches, a 2-0 win over Roma in the Coppa Italia, has increased the pressure on Simone Inzaghi’s squad. The Nerazzurri have fallen to defeats to AC Milan, Liverpool, and Sassuolo, whilst they scraped a draw against Napoli.

Today’s Serie A encounter against Genoa will be used to observe the underperforming players further, with defender Stefan De Vrij’s form being called into question after mistakes against Napoli, Milan, Juventus, and Lazio.

Handanovic made errors against Sassuolo, Liverpool, Milan, Venezia, and to some extent Lazio, and the veteran has drawn the ire of fans for some time.

Meanwhile, even midfielder Nicolo Barella has been highlighted after a disastrous display against Sassuolo, as he took on an unfamiliar role in covering for Marcelo Brozovic at the base of midfield.

In attack, Inter’s goalscoring troubles have been emphasised by the struggles of Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez, and Alexis Sanchez. Dzeko and Sanchez have struck three times each since the turn of the year, whilst Martinez has a single goal across the 10 matches played in 2022.
