Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu urged his teammates to remain calm after they dropped points again with a goalless draw against Genoa in Serie A yesterday.

The Turkey international featured as the Nerazzurri missed the chance to move level with AC Milan at the top of the table, having failed to break through the Grifone’s defence at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

With Inter now on a four match run without a win, Calhanoglu called for his side not to panic in an interview with Italian television broadcaster DAZN yesterday, as reported by FCInterNews.it.

“This month was not easy against Milan, Napoli, Liverpool. They are huge matches in just a few days. We have to be calm and keep the right attitude because we have so many other matches. Luckily Milan have drawn, and it’s a difficult period for them too. I always believe in us though,” the former Rossoneri midfielder claimed.

“It wasn’t easy today, we knew it wouldn’t be. But in these games we always have to be careful. They always played long, looking for second balls, and they were very aggressive.

“We created many chances though, we just missed the goal. We hit the crossbar and if that had gone in it would have changed the game.”

Inter suffered defeat to rivals Milan at the start of their poor run, but Calhanoglu insisted that the loss against his former club had not affected the team psychologically.

“All the matches are difficult, everyone prepares well against us. Here in Genoa it was not easy, with this atmosphere and this pitch. It didn’t go as we wanted but we must remain calm, keep the right spirit and then we’ll see,” he concluded.
