Inter are considering Chelsea’s Andreas Christien and Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi among the possible targets to replace Stefan de Vrij during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, who reports in his column for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb that the Nerazzurri would still like to keep de Vrij on past the summer but that they are exploring alternatives.

De Vrij’s current deal at Inter is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and the club have yet to accelerate talks with the 30-year-old about a potential extension.

Should the Dutchman not agree a new deal past that date, the Nerazzurri could decide to cash in on him rather than allow him to go into the final year of his deal with his situation unresolved.

According to Ceccarini, the club are already working to identify replacements, with Chelsea’s Christensen out of contract in the summer and Feyenoord having made the valuation for Senseni clear.

“The Nerazzurri are looking for a top central defender who can add quality to the position,” he writes. “All the more so should De Vrij leave at the end of the season.”

He elaborates that “Inter would like to keep the Dutchman in the team, but should a convenient offer arrive, then he could be sold.”

“Among the players being looked at there are two new names,” he goes on, “Christensen and Senesi. The Dane’s deal at Chelsea expires in June and he could represent an ideal solution.”

“Meanwhile, the road that leads to Marcos Senesi at Feyenoord is more expensive,” Ceccarini adds. “The Argentine has a valuation of around €15 million.”
