Inter will have to rely on key individuals to step up if they hope to get back to their best form, and Italian media have identified Hakan Calhanoglu, Lautaro Martinez, Robin Gosens, and Milan Skriniar as four players who could be key.

The quartet are named in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport as players who could spark the team out of their recent poor form with their performances.

The Gazzetta suggests that Calhanoglu could be important in giving the team tactical versatility, as he could allow for the shape to shift to more of a 3-4-1-2 from 3-5-2, after opponents have increasingly had the Nerazzurri’s usual tactics scouted.

Meanwhile, Martinez’s individual form has hurt the Nerazzurri’s overall form given that he is the team’s main striker, and even though he has not scored from open play for over two months, showed real signs of life off the bench against Genoa.

New boy Gosens is identified as a player who, even though he will not likely displace Ivan Perisic as regular starter right away given the Croat’s outstanding form, could give him a chance to rest regularly while offering a starting-quality option in his place.

Lastly, the consistency of Skriniar at the back is noted by the Gazzetta as something that could be crucial to any recovery that the Nerazzurri make from their stumble in form.
