Juventus head coach Max Allegri does not feel that his side are realistically in the Scudetto race despite having made up ground over the past few weeks.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after yesterday’s Serie A win over Empoli, he said that the Bianconeri are still focusing on the fight for top four and not seriously considering overtaking the three sides ahead of them in the Serie A table.

Inter, AC Milan, and Napoli have all dropped points over the past couple weeks, and this has underlined that none of the trio at the top of the table look fully equipped to really take control of the title race during the run-in.

Aside from remaining close to each other, the three teams have also found the Bianconeri getting to within a few points of them at the top of the table as they’ve been in somewhat better form in the past few weeks, while Juventus play the Nerazzurri in a little over a month.

However, the Bianconeri’s coach does not want his team getting ahead of themselves, and said that “The minimum points a team could win the Scudetto with is still 84-85, I said it yesterday and I’m still convinced.”

“The lads know it as well,” he added. “Our goal is to finish fourth, we need to find consistency and we need to take one step at a time. The three teams in the lead will fight for the title.”
