Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga believes that Tuesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against city rivals AC Milan will be decided by which of the teams shows more hesitation.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, he noted that both of the two city rivals have faltered recently, and suggested that the derby will be decided by which can pick themselves up more.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri head into the derby semi-final as the top two sides in the Serie A table, but they do not arrive as teams in great form.

Inter have lost to Sassuolo and drawn with Genoa in their last two games, whilst Milan’s past two matches have seen them draw against teams in the bottom half of the table in the form of Salernitana and Udinese.

The derby will give each of them an opportunity to show that they’ve emerged from this slump and are back to their best, but also could deepen their crisis in form.

“In their last two matches they’ve competed to see who hesitates more,” Zenga said. “Milan drew against Salernitana, while Inter lost against Sassuolo and drew with Genoa. Surely neither of them comes into it in their best form.”
