Andre Onana has provided further confirmation that there is no chance of his staying at Ajax amid strong links to Inter.

Speaking to Dutch broadcaster NOS, the 25-year-old explained that he wants to find a new challenge for next season, with his contract with the Dutch champions expiring at the end of June.

Onana has been widely reported to be set for a move to Inter in the summer, with the Cameroonian having already completed his medicals with the club in January.

The goalkeeper’s current deal with Ajax runs out after this season, and both he and the club have already made statements that there are no plans to agree an extension.

The 25-year-old explained to NOS that his reason for wanting to leave the Dutch side is that he feels it’s the right next step to take in his career, despite having done well during his time with Ajax.

“I did my best for this club so I think it was important for me to look for a new challenge,” he said. “I think it’s my prerogative to sign or not sign a new contract.”

“In the end, life is about making choices,” he added. “I think I’ve done a great job for this club for many years, and I also expect that my time at Ajax is over.”
