Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi could reconfigure the Nerazzurri’s tactical approach in central areas to start getting the best out of his midfielders again.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight how the coach is prioritizing getting the best out of the relationship between Marcelo Brozovic and Hakan Calhanoglu on the pitch in particular.

During the Nerazzurri’s best run of form this season, during November and December, Brozovic and Calhanoglu had been among their two best players by far, forming a formidable trio in midfield alongside Nicolo Barella.

However, in recent matches the chemistry has not quite looked the same, especially as teams have been able to identify them as key to the Nerazzurri’s buildup and make efforts to mark and counteract them.

Inzaghi is analyzing how to avoid these measures and reassert the duo’s influence on matches, not with any drastic changes but by giving them slightly different instructions on positioning when they receive the ball.

The coach believes that by getting the best out of Calhanoglu and in particular Brozovic, he can quickly have the team performing at its best.
