Inter have been out of form in front of goal in recent matches, and part of the reason for this has been the lack of goals and assists coming from midfield.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who note that the team has not been able to rely on the midfielders to contribute in attack during their recent goal drought.

Nicolo Barella had started the season off in fine form with his assists total, and has always looked capable of adding incisive contributions in the final third to his endless running in midfield.

However, in his six starts for the Nerazzurri over the past month, the 25-year-old has not managed to find the back of the net or assist a teammate.

Hakan Calhanoglu has proved to be even more prolific this season, scoring and assisting the most goals among Inter midfielders with six and nine respectively.

However, the 28-year-old has not managed to contribute anything in the final third as the team have gone 313 minutes across all competitions without scoring.
