Inter have an opportunity to turn their form around in a highly significant match as they face city rivals AC Milan in a Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the Nerazzurri can redeem themselves after recent disappointments, though the match is not without the risk of deepening the feeling of crisis.

Inter endured their most damaging month of the season in February, dropping points against Milan and Napoli in the League and losing to Liverpool in the Champions League before failing to beat either Sassuolo or Genoa.

The loss to the Neroverdi and subsequent draw with the Griffone were unexpected setbacks, with the team having hoped to bounce back with wins after frustrations in some of their more high-profile fixtures in which they’d played well but not gotten the results they’d wanted.

Now, Inter are in a position where they’ve failed to win in their last four Serie A matches, and this evening’s derby clash takes on even more significance than it would have had already.

With a win, Inter can reassert themselves and take a big morale boost going into the run-in of the season, though if they are to lose then they could find themselves lower on confidence than ever.
