Former Inter, Fiorentina and Roma midfielder David Pizarro feels that the Milan derby is a match which has a special significance for players.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Firenzeviola.it, the Chilean spoke about the difference between the two different Coppa Italia semi-finals.

Inter and AC Milan will play out a two-legged Milan derby starting this evening for a place in the Coppa Italia final, adding an extra layer of drama to what is already one of Italian football’s showpiece occasions.

Pizarro sees his old club the Nerazzurri face off against their city rivals, but meanwhile, he also sees another former side play in the competition in the form of La Viola, in another big Italian fixture against Juventus.

The Chilean has played in Rome and Milan derbies as well as for Fiorentina against the Bianconeri, and he gave his thoughts on the significance of the different fixtures.

“If in the Rome or Milan derbies they ask for your soul only when you go into the match against Lazio or Milan, in Florence they talk about the match against Juve for the whole year.”
