Legendary former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta feels that Inter have become too one-note in their tactics and approach.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the former defender gave the view that the Nerazzurri are partly looking burned out due to constantly trying to play the same way, and also suggested that their midfielders are out of form.

Inter have tended to play with the same starting eleven and tactical approach from match to match under Simone Inzaghi, with only minor variations from match to match.

When the team were at their best the ideas clearly appeared to be working, but now that the team is going through a slump in form, questions have arisen about how effective the tactical ideas are.

Costacurta suggested that the Nerazzurri had kept up with the same style of play that they have all season in yesterday’s goalless Coppa Italia draw with AC Milan, even when it didn’t look to be working.

“Inter always perseveres with trying to play the same style,” he said. “There are players who look far from their best, especially in midfield.”
