Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag feels that Inter-linked goalkeeper Andre Onana is getting back to his best form and will soon be at his best.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Dutch champions’ match against AZ, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach gave his thoughts on the Cameroonian’s form.

Onana has not always shown his best form since returning from a one-year doping ban late last year, with the 25-year-old having made some high-profile errors in goal for Cameroon at the African Cup of Nations.

However, this could be partly a consequence of continued rust from having only made his return from injury relatively recently, and this is the view of his coach at Ajax.

With the Cameroonian set to depart from the Dutch side and join Inter in the summer, this could be positive news that he will make a big impact for the Nerazzurri.

“It’s been a difficult time and that leaves its mark,” he said of the effects of the doping ban on Onana. “Now he wants to play a lot.”

“At the moment he’s so happy to be back in goal and can enjoy it,” he added. “It took him a few weeks to get back to this level.”

“But Onana is an incredible athlete,” he went on. “With these types of players, adjusting to a higher level happens very quickly. We’ll see old Onana again in the not-too-distant future.”
