Captain Samir Handanovic was the Inter player to emerge with the most credit from yesterday’s goalless derby against AC Milan, while Lautaro Martinez was the team’s worst performer on the night.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who gave Handanovic a 7/10 score in their player ratings for the match but could only give Martinez a 4.5/10.

Inter managed an important clean sheet to ensure that the tie remains fully in the balance going into the second leg, and some important interventions from the captain were crucial to this.

At the other end, however, it was a different story, as the Nerazzurri failed to trouble Rossoneri keeper Mike Maignan, with Martinez’s anonymous display the biggest culprit.

The 24-year-old failed the impact the game and extended his worrying goal drought by one more match, while Nicolo Barella and Denzel Dumfries were only awarded 5/10 scores for their displays by the Gazzetta.

Defenders Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni also received 6.5/10 scores for their displays from the Gazzetta, considered to be among the more effective performers.
