Former Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi has played down the disappointment that Nicolo Barella showed when he was substituted against AC Milan, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with Corriere della Sera, the former Inter midfielder explained that the way Nicolo Barella reacted to being taken off in the 65th minute shows that he cares about the team and his own performances.

Many have suggested that it is a sign of an attitude problem or that the Sardinian is unhappy at the club, but Evaristo Beccalossi believes it is normal behaviour.

It is normal to have this kind of attitude, he should not be demonized, he is a very serious guy. We are talking about a strong person with a strong personality, I do not see it in a negative way, it means he is attached to the team and to his teammates.”

In regard to the Serie A title fight which is looking very different every single week, Evaristo Beccalossi believes that Inter are still the strongest but admits that it is getting very hard to predict what will happen.

Strangely, the teams in front are all stuttering, it’s hard to explain. I remain convinced Inter are the strongest, even if from the beginning of the season I said that Napoli will be a very tough opponent.”

Inter have a chance to go back to the top of the table if they beat Salernitana on Friday night.
