The mayor of a suburb in Milan has told Inter and AC Milan that the space to build the new San Siro is in his area and the clubs just have to knock on his door, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Libero, the mayor of Sesto San Giovanni has made it clear to the two Milanese clubs that the new stadium they crave can be built in the area that he resides over.

“The two companies just have to knock on my door. I’m not waiting for anything else. The municipal administration, as known, has already given its availability. It would be a real system operation, proving the existence of the metropolitan city.

“Milan-centricity is an idea to be overcome. Sesto San Giovanni is ready to project itself into a future dimension with an international flavour. The space to build the stadium is there. The theme is the will of the two companies.”

This would be a major decision for the clubs to take as it would mean moving away from the San Siro area of Milan which is in the west and heading to the northeast of the city instead.

It is not clear if either club has any interest in making this move but having a space to build the stadium already available is certainly an attractive proposition for them.
