Inter defender Robin Gosens has said that there is a good environment at Inter and discussed his first minutes on the pitch for the club, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Inter for the matchday programme against Salernitana, via FCInternews, the German defender talked about how he has settled into the group since he made his move from Atalanta at the end of the January transfer window.

At Inter there is a good environment, with important players but they are also very helpful and close-knit. There is a strong and united group that is working towards many goals.”

He joined the club whilst recovering from a serious injury but he came on for the last few minutes against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night, which was his Inter debut.

I’ve been waiting for it for a long time: I returned to the pitch after an injury of almost five months and at the same time I played with these colours for the first time. It was not an easy challenge, but it will remain a special moment, full of emotion.”

Inter has a rich history of German players but the one that Robin Gosens thinks of is Andreas Brehme, saying: “They wrote the story here, Andreas Brehme comes to mind because he played in a role similar to mine, an example.”

The wing back believes that he has reached this point in is career through hard work and determination rather than through natural ability like any others.

I didn’t have a traditional route, but I had great determination and this further increases the pride of having signed for a great club like Inter. I got here because I always had the right motivation.”
