The co-owner of PIF-owned Newcastle United has said that she does not think there is any truth in suggestions that the Saudi-Arabian fund wants to buy Inter from Suning, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking in response to a question from Calcio e Finanza, Amanda Staveley explained that she does not think that PIF are interested in Inter and she is also not sure where that particular rumour is coming from.

“Are PIF interested in Inter?  I don’t think there’s any truth in that, I don’t know where this rumour comes from which keeps appearing, but in any case, you should ask PIF.”

The Saudi-Arabian Public Investment Fund has been linked with a purchase of Inter for the past two or so years but they recently decided to buy Newcastle United in the Premier League, a deal that Amanda Staveley helped to broker.

She is therefore a source very close to PIF and can speak with relative authority on their intentions. Throughout the links to PIF, Suning have remained clear that they wish to continue as the owners of Inter.
