Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has said that he is sad when he is not in goalscoring form but is relieved to have scored a hat-trick against Salernitana, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Sky Sport after the 5-0 victory, via FCInternews, the Argentinian opened up about how he talks to his wife a lot about his struggles when he is in a bad patch of form.

“When I go to bed with my wife I talk a lot because I’m sad if I can’t help the team with goals. I talked to her, my family, friends. I want to dedicate the goals to my daughter Nina who turned one recently.”

Lautaro Martinez had not scored in a Serie A match since December meaning he has come under some heavy criticism from fans and pundits. On Friday night he answered those critics by scoring three goals and helping Inter secure a huge three points.

“The victory was missing, the goals were missing. We scored five and we are very happy. On a personal level, I have experienced a difficult period because the striker lives to score goals, the team needs this.

“I went out on the pitch with a lot of desire and anger, an important period for Inter is approaching and today we had to prove ourselves. We lost a bit of nastiness and personality recently, today we played well against an opponent who plays well. I thank the fans for being by our side.”

Lautaro Martinez also had praise for the Inter coach Simone Inzaghi who he says gives him confidence.

“He trusts me. He gives me confidence, he is always by our side. He fights with us.”

Inter’s next match will be in the Champions League against Liverpool where they must overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg. Lautaro Martinez feels that they can do it.

“Let’s go there with personality and we’ll try to get back in it. Maybe it will be our day.”
