Inter went some way towards putting their recent bad form behind them with their 5-0 rout of Salernitana in Serie A yesterday evening.

This boost in confidence comes not a moment too soon, according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, especially in view of their massive Champions League clash away to Liverpool during the week.

Inter travel to Anfield on Tuesday evening to try and overturn a 2-0 deficit in their Champions League round of sixteen tie, and they will be under no illusions about the difficulty of their task.

The Reds came away 2-0 winners in the first leg despite a very encouraging performance by the Nerazzurri who will have felt that they deserved more from the match, but in the second leg it could look like “mission impossible.”

This feeling will have been further emphasized by the Nerazzurri’s recent slump in form, particularly their attacking struggles given the need to score at least a couple of goals at Anfield.

However, against Salernitana Inter seemed to rediscover themselves, and this comes at the right moment for the team to head into Tuesday’s clash with Liverpool high on confidence.
