Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has said that he has been going through a difficult moment but he always felt that there was a belief in him from others, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the win against Salernitana to Inter TV, via FCInternews, the Italian midfielder reflected on the 5-0 victory in which he assisted two of his teammates for goals.

Lautaro Martinez has also been in very poor form but he scored a hat-trick and will be hoping to carry that form forward into the final stage of the season.

“I’m happy if I can help with the assists as well as with the attitude of the team. I’m also happy for Lautaro, we’ve had some difficult moments, even on my part, but I’m happy when we manage to make up for it.

“It is a victory that we needed, even in the other matches we deserved to win but were not able to score. Tonight it happened and it is certainly good for confidence too.”

The former Cagliari midfielder delved further into how it has felt to be in a poor run of form both for himself and for the team as a whole.

“There are times when it doesn’t go well, not only physically, but maybe you don’t succeed in your play or the ball doesn’t go through.

“There are many elements that make you have a bad patch of form, but I always feel the belief of my teammates and for me, that was the most important thing.”

Inter’s next match is in the Champions League and they must overturn the 2-0 defeat that they suffered in the first leg. Nicolo Barella will be suspended but he knows it will be an atmospheric occasion.

“It will certainly be a show to play in that stadium as it was here. We can try to do it, but we have to think about having fun and going back to our basics.”
