Striker Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Nicolo Barella have been named as Inter’s two top performers in yesterday evening’s 5-0 thrashing of Salernitana in Serie A.

The pair were given the highest scores in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, while virtually all Nerazzurri players were rated highly.

Martinez had been in notably bad form heading into yesterday evening’s match, having gone more than two months without a goal from open play, but the Argentine announced a return in confidence with his display.

The 24-year-old was the hat-trick hero for the Nerazzurri as he scored the first three goals of the emphatic win, and the Gazzetta awarded him with an 8.5/10 score.

Meanwhile, teammate Barella is just one grade behind him at 8/10, with the 25-year-old having assisted both of Martinez’s first two goals to cap off an overall excellent display.

The likes of Edin Dzeko, who scored a brace himself, and Denzel Dumfries, who ran Luca Ranieri and Simone Verdi ragged, both received scores of 7.5/10 for their displays.

Of the entire Inter team, the only player to receive a more mediocre score was Joaquin Correa, who failed to really make an impact on the game off the bench and was given a 5.5/10 grade.
