The muscle injury that Inter wing-back Ivan Perisic picked up just prior to yesterday evening’s Serie A clash with Salernitana is nothing serious, but the club will not take any risks.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 33-year-old’s condition will be evaluated over the next couple days with a view to his possible availability against Liverpool.

Perisic had to go to the stands just before kick-off against Salernitana after having felt some muscular fatigue, according to reports.

However, the muscle problem is not serious and should not rule the Croat out from the team for very long.

Nevertheless, the club will not try and push Perisic back to an early return, being mindful of the risk of re-injury, and so the decision on his availability for Tuesday’s round of sixteen second leg against Liverpool in the Champions League will be taken closer to the match.
