Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko went some way towards showing that they are the right men to lead Inter’s attack with their five goal haul against Salernitana yesterday evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who argue that the pair inspired confidence that they can be at their clinical best for the Nerazzurri during the run-in of the season.

Martinez had been badly out of form in front of goal for the past several weeks, whilst Dzeko, despite chipping in with important goals here and there, has not necessarily proven that he can be the lethal striker that the team needs.

However, Martinez showed that he can be ruthless with the chances that fall to him on all three of his hat-trick goals, whilst Dzeko also responded with two well-taken goals of his own.

Along with the dominant display by Nicolo Barella in midfield, and the encouraging performance and assist from Robin Gosens from the bench, the Nerazzurri’s display sent a message that there is life in this team’s attack heading into the most important period of the season.
