Inter got back to winning ways in Serie A yesterday evening, taking three points in the league for the first time in five matches with their win over Salernitana.

This pushed the team to an upswing in confidence according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who highlight the return to form of Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella especially.

The Nerazzurri have not always looked like themselves in recent matches, with the team failing to score in 426 across all competitions before the first goal of Martinez’s hat-trick against Salernitana.

However, once the striker’s duck had been broken, both he and the team put in one of their best displays in some time to put the newly-promoted side to the sword.

Barella and Martinez in particular, who had both been poor in Tuesday’s drab goalless draw with AC Milan in the Coppa Italia, looked to be enjoying their football.

The win was badly needed for a Nerazzurri who had been in a slump as far as results, which was also beginning to show through in the quality of the performances.

Martinez and Barella inspired the team to an emphatic display which will prove to the team as well as their rivals that they can still look at their best as they head into a challenging run-in in the league and prepare to face Liverpool in a Champions League round of sixteen second leg.
