Legendary former Inter, Roma, and Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano believes that current Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez is capable of scoring thirty goals a season.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInter1908, the former forward compared Martinez to his compatriot, former Manchester City and Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.

Martinez has been hot and cold in terms of his form in front of goal at times since joining Inter in the summer of 2018, and nowhere has this been more evident than in his last couple months.

The 24-year-old kicked off the season in largely good form, establishing himself as the Nerazzurri’s top scorer, but then he went more than two months without scoring in Serie A before a very well-taken hat-trick against Salernitana announced his return to scoring.

More consistency will be needed if the Argentine is to become a player who can regularly be in the Capocannoniere race, but Cassano believes that his best moments show that he has that in him.

“He has thirty goals in his legs,” Cassano said, “Il Torois very good, he’s a top player. For me he can be the top scorer in Serie A. In the short, in the long term, he reminds me more and more of Aguero.”
