Arturo Vidal is the favourite to start for Inter midfielder in place of the suspended Nicolo Barella in tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Chilean is ahead of Roberto Gagliardini in coach Simone Inzaghi’s thinking for the match.
Barella’s absence from both legs of the tie against the Reds due to his straight red card against Real Madrid in the last group stage match has left Inzaghi needing to reshuffle his midfield and do without a key player.
In the first leg of the tie, Vidal started and filled in well for Barella, so the 34-year-old remains the likeliest player to start in the second leg at Anfield.
Meanwhile, the Corriere also reports that Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko will start in attack, whilst Ivan Perisic will also return to the starting eleven and Robin Gosens will settle for a place on the bench.
